About Us

GateWay Worship Center started in August 1993 in Pastor Kevin and Jackie’s living room with 8 people. GateWay’s first service was in a rented Church of God building with 45 in attendance. Outgrowing that facility in 2000, GateWay moved across town renting for two more years before locating at 661 E. Exchange St. in Akron, Ohio, one quarter mile east of Akron University.

Ordained under Lester Sumrall, Pastor Kevin served under that covering for 3 years until Dr. Sumrall’s passing. At that time Pastors, Kevin and Jackie were ordained under Christian International with Bishop Bill Hamon.

GateWay Worship Center was then brought under C.I.’s Network of Churches, which is their current affiliation.

GateWay Worship Center is a local church body emphasizing worship and intercession as a large part of our mission in the Body of Christ. We have several departments of service and activities for membership involvement.

GateWay Worship Center Mandate

  • We are to work in the endeavor of establishing Prophets and Apostles in the Body of Christ.
  • We are to aid in the equipping of the Saints for their membership ministry position.
  • We are to facilitate the restoration of “all” things necessary and essential for Jesus’ return.
  • We are to engage the warfare necessary to create an open Heaven and confront principalities.
  • We are commissioned to work toward the endeavor of establishing the Unity of the Faith as we are to confront the Idol of Jealousy (Ezek. 8), tearing down idols, structures, and thoughts that exalt themselves above the knowledge of God (2 Cor. 10).
